Project Description

I painted this for my daughter Leah. My first attempt on this painting was too realistic. I was unhappy with it so I covered it over with colored gesso. I decided not to use the photo I created as reference (an image I took in Granada Spain while visiting Leah during her college study abroad).

I wanted something more abstract so I did some rough sketches without visual reference. I then scanned them and placed them into Illustrator. I added some details and developed the notan: a grayscale value study to work from. Below you’ll find my sketches and color-wheel thoughts. The medium is acrylic with some metallic pigments and clear medium.
