Ah, the good old days—when doctors in crisp white coats confidently recommended cigarette brands like they were prescribing vitamins. “More doctors smoke Camels!” the ads proudly declared, as if a medical degree doubled as a tobacco endorsement deal. The tobacco industry, ever the benevolent public servant, poured money into campaigns assuring us that smoking was not only safe, but sophisticated—even healthy! Never mind the coughing fits and that mysterious “smoker’s hack”—it was all part of the charm. And let’s not forget the real kicker: nicotine’s delightful buzz. People weren’t just lighting up for fashion—they were getting gloriously high off the stuff. It took decades, countless lawsuits, and a mountain of scientific evidence to undo the damage, but for a long time, lighting up was practically a patriotic duty. After all, if the doctor said so, who were we to argue?
